Something that would be visually really nice.. during flipping upwards, the part that gets rotated becomes brighter until the center.. and then the back face really dark to normal. Not sure if I'm describing that in a good way.. ;-) And you might already have planed it.

Sure, like the Flipboard app? I tried it this morning. Almost got there :) Will hopefully push some changes in the next few days.
