iMessage conversations do not differentiate between sent / received

For conversations that are through iMessage, all iMessage network messages show as received (blue and on the left.) Any sms network messages sent to the same user appear correctly. For example, if you turn 3g off, messages will send via the sms network and not the iMessage network.

I am running wifisms version 1.0.8 on 5.0.1 on my 4s. I can confirm this is due to iMessage. This image is the example of an all iMessage conversation: http://i.imgur.com/UIUjt.png The second image shows a conversation where I upgraded someones phone to ios5 and the issue begins. You can see that before the separation worked properly, but afterwards it did not fuction: http://i.imgur.com/YA9fR.png
