Got the exact same issue as well (H.264 QSV works, but H.265 doesn't). ffmpeg and Plex can use QSV just fine, so I assume this is a Handbrake issue.

i tested it and it finally works with qsv h265 but soon the container stop with code 139 and see the log : service 'app' exited (got signal SIGSEGV)

Running about 20s then the container stop itself. I run the container on openwrt and I map the config and storage volume to my nas. I wonder when transcoding where is the temp file stored because I see the output file is 1KB. Is there not enough space for temp file in openwrt rom or memory compatible problem.

finally it works, turn out it's my RAM's fault. N4120 platform needs 1GB nana RAM but what i use is 512MB, it caused all the crashes. after i change the RAM it's runing stable for 3 days. and i met the problem you said that canceling maked it crash sometime. and autotranscode by putting file into watch folder not working for me, but it's ok cause i prefer manul.
