deriving a custom wildcard from %c that selects a collection by default

Open csarmendariz opened this issue 4 years ago • 4 comments

Hi,

I'm using the wildcard %c (collections) to create the subfolders in which my pdfs are stored. This works great until one of the files is stored in more than one collection. The default behaviour is to ask the user to select one of the collections.

I would like to create a custom wildcard that does the same but instead of asking just selects the first collection available in alphabetic order.

I read the instructions on how to do so but this specific wildcard seems different than others... In the default config I can see it's calling a field called "collectionPaths", that doesn't seem to exist in the zotero list of fields (https://api.zotero.org/itemFields?pprint=1).

The entry is very simple "c": "collectionPaths" so not sure if there is any way to avoid call to the selection menu...

Anyone has ideas on how to do something like this? Or maybe someone can tell me it is actually impossible and I can stop trying :)

Thanks!

This is important to me as well. Zotero and Zotfile are unable to remove files associated with deleted references. To address this issue, I regularly transfer all files to a new folder using Zotfile, delete any remaining files, and then move everything back to the original folder. This ends up being very time-consuming because of the mentioned selection pop-up, which I need to select for every reference in more than one collection.
