incorrect status for Neopixels

I've enabled debugging on the klicky macros and updated all my configs and macros to the latest version. During homing routine, the printer goes through the following status changes: it starts with status_homing, attaches probe with status_busy, then uses status_ready for z-probing. If I run the mesh bed leveling command, it uses status_ready. When I start a print, status_meshing is correctly used. The machine is on status_ready during printing itself, so this is all quite confusing.

Console output, printer.cfg and klicky-macros in attachment. Fair warning: I'm also using partial mesh bed leveling, which has some interaction I'm not familiar with. I hope I'm not mixing things up.
