prevent loading of deprecated org version

Open uliw opened this issue 4 years ago • 2 comments

Org has moved to a new repository. Loading any org file will result in an "IMPORTANT: please install Org from GNU ELPA as Org ELPA will close before Org 9.6" message plus a 5 second time out which makes working with org tedious

Migrating the archive as recommended in https://orgmode.org/elpa.html is circumvented because scimax seems to load org.el from org-plus-contrib-20210929

Is there a way to use the recommended org version?

Thx

At https://github.com/jkitchin/scimax/blob/master/packages.el#L17, scimax is just loading 'org. I don't think 'org-plus-contrib is in scimax anymore (at least I only see that in some org-ref (which I have just removed). I don't think the org elpa repo is even listed in package-archives anymore.

I guess you have those in your local elpa directory. You could just remove them. I usually move the folders out of elpa to some place, in case you want/need to put them back if it stops working.

I see it in scimax/org-ref/test-melpa/melpa-init.el scimax/init.el

there are however a couple of locations that rely on org-plus-contrib which is https://elpa.nongnu.org/nongnu/

thx
