constantly adding and removing device

On running, sometimes (hard to reproduce, sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn't) my device keeps getting added and removed (alternating every two seconds). It makes it difficult to refresh or install apps because normally a refresh takes longer than 2 seconds. I think this may be coming from netmuxd?

Anyone else run into this or have any ideas?

I'm running the script as root using 'screen' and WiFi tethering.
