web-settings: Languages list is not sorted for target language

Open nomadbyte opened this issue 1 year ago • 0 comments

Description:

In the web-UI settings of Jitsi Meet, the Languages list appears to be originally sorted by language-code. This may not be very obvious in case of English, as the codes mostly coincide with the language names. However, switching to another language makes the list order obviously unsorted and not much suitable for quick finding of language name.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open web-IU Settings>More
  2. Select Language: English and accept the change to the UI
  3. Re-open the web-UI Settings>More
  4. Notice the Languages list is sorted in visbily non-alphabetical order (e.g. ..., Spanish, Estonian)
  5. Try to locate Albanian language (hint: it's after Slovenian)
  6. Similarly, the order is not user-friendly when UI is set to other language

Expected behavior:

web-UI Settings Languages list is presented in user-friendly/alphabetical order by visible language names (the code is not visible in the list)

Actual behavior:

web-UI Settings Languages list is presented in order sorted by underlying language codes (not visible)

Server information:

Client information:
