ldap authentication with email address

is it stzill the case that ldap authentication with email address is not working? I can correctly authenticate with another ldap attribute, but not with email address. It seems the @ sign is somehow stripped out?

I really want to have login with email address so my users have a common login across all apps.

Sorry, LDAP support was community contributed, hopefully someone can help you out...
