Do I need sudo to run this?

I'm on Arch Linux and being fairly new to Linux I'm wondering if there's a way to use zzz without sudo? I was looking for a simple wrapper command that can issue different kinds of sleep, which seems to be exactly the case with zzz.

Given that I can sleep my computer as a user, I found it odd that I need sudo to use zzz. Is there any workaround? (I find zzz's simple flags for different sleep modes neat.)
