Theme doesn't darken Ecipse in Linux Mint 14
Hi Jin,
I discovered a bug. When I use your theme on Ubuntu 12.10 it looks wonderful. With Linux Mint 14 (which is based on Ubuntu 12.10 - uses Cinnamon instead of Unity though), the dark doesn't apply to the frames and tops.
It is a shame since Linux Mint is the forth most used operating system in the world. :(
Hi, watchfit, thanks for your report. Do you re-start your eclipse after applying the theme?
Hi Jin, Sorry for late reply. Yes I have restarted it several times. Could it be that you have adjusted the dark theme to Unity (Ubuntu) only?
sorry, I can not find your email early. I have done nothing in OS level. So, all behaviors belongs to Eclipse/SWT itself:) I have used darker with Mate and Cinnamon. Both are OK. Which version of your Eclipse instance?
ps: It seems ulgy for your plain text editor. It should be changed in some way: like for common file extensions which the darker plugin can not support nicely, it should resort to a default white schema. No theme plugin supports such feature, as my understanding.(It is also restricted to the Eclipse/SWT itself). It is no very trivial so that needs time to complete.
I have the same issue with the Mint 14 standard theme. Although it is less visible then since everything else is also gray. I believe this is a bug in the GTK/Theming/Theme area. The control that is used by Eclipse could be a toolbar and this toolbar seems to ignore the option the let the background pass through from the parent widget. When I switch from "Mint-X" GTK theme to "Adwaita" (both from Mint 14) the problems are gone, yet I have a different theme.
ctron, thanks for youe feedback. We may catch the culprit - the distro-dependent theme engine:) Maybe GTK_3 can rescue us? http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops4/S-4.3M4-201212140730/news/
Same issue here
there is a solution for the toolbars. http://dentrassi.de/2013/04/23/fixing-the-mint-x-theme-for-eclipseswt/
ctron, thanks for feedback again:) I have moved to arch + gnome shell 3.8 + extensions for a while. But Mint is still good than notorious Ubuntu a little in my memory... So, I support your guys:)
ps: The gnome-tweak tool can turn out the dark theme of gnome shell. It is green and low-carbon. It is great to use with the Darker:)
