Exclude selecting "New tab" page

I'd like to avoid this extension to go back to the "New tab" page in a previous group (when using STG).

While options mentioned in https://github.com/jingyu9575/select-after-closing-current/wiki/Compatibility-options-for-tab-grouping-extensions work, I can't make the extension to switch group when the previous page was a New Tab one.

How to exclude it?
