"Unable to connect to world" PS4

Open gravyboat500ml opened this issue 5 years ago • 24 comments

Hi, the server I've been connecting to has been upgraded and now I cannot access it using the same method with PS4 and phantom. Other players using PS4 have been able to access it and I'm certain I'm doing nothing differently - I'm using v0.1.1 which was working before.

Any ideas?

did anything change with your firewall?

imnotjack91 avatar Mar 27 '20 14:03 imnotjack91

whats the error message you are getting?

imnotjack91 avatar Mar 27 '20 14:03 imnotjack91

Hi, I don't think anything has changed about firewall and the message I get is after clicking to connect on PS4, it says "unable to connect to world" even though the script is all correct on command prompt

gravyboat500ml avatar Mar 27 '20 15:03 gravyboat500ml

I've tried refreshing / restarting, deleting saved data, signing in to microsoft again and installing different versions of phantom - nothing is working

gravyboat500ml avatar Mar 27 '20 15:03 gravyboat500ml

what port are you using?

imnotjack91 avatar Mar 27 '20 15:03 imnotjack91

also, have you tried disabling windows firewall completely (as a test) to see if it works?

imnotjack91 avatar Mar 27 '20 16:03 imnotjack91

also, what version minecraft server are you using and what version minecraft do you have installed?

imnotjack91 avatar Mar 27 '20 16:03 imnotjack91

Port: 19132 I haven't tried disabling firewall yet but the script seems to be fine and it's detected as a local server on the PS4, it just won't connect to the world And Minecraft version 1.95 I think, the most recent PS4 version

gravyboat500ml avatar Mar 27 '20 16:03 gravyboat500ml

was the update that was installed the server version update or the ps4 version update or the script update?

imnotjack91 avatar Mar 27 '20 16:03 imnotjack91

The update was just a change of port and IP address so that the server had more memory - it hasn't effected the world at all because others have managed to join, I'm just unable to connect to it for some reason

gravyboat500ml avatar Mar 27 '20 16:03 gravyboat500ml

is the server on a local computer?

imnotjack91 avatar Mar 27 '20 16:03 imnotjack91

The server is hosted by someone on a different computer, not locally, and I had been using Phantom to connect to it which was working fine before the change of IP and port

gravyboat500ml avatar Mar 27 '20 16:03 gravyboat500ml

what version of phantom are you using now?

imnotjack91 avatar Mar 27 '20 16:03 imnotjack91

V 0.1.1 because that version worked previously, but have tried a bunch of other version and none have worked.

V 0.1.1 works in the command prompt btw, and is detected by the PS4 - it just doesn't connect to the world

are you able to get ahold of the launch script for one of the other players to see if theres anything different they are doing?

imnotjack91 avatar Mar 27 '20 16:03 imnotjack91

They've just sent over their launch script and it looks identical to mine; I think the fault is with the PS4 connecting and have no idea how to fix that

gravyboat500ml avatar Mar 27 '20 16:03 gravyboat500ml

@jhead is there a way to induce a log of what is happening?

imnotjack91 avatar Mar 27 '20 16:03 imnotjack91

Hey @gravyboat500ml, unfortunately I can't help debug v0.1.1. You'll need to update to the latest version to troubleshoot. Once you update, it'd be helpful if you could copy/paste or screenshot the logs from phantom.

The update was just a change of port and IP address

The fact that the server's IP/port changed before this issue started happening might suggest that this is a networking issue between your computer and the server.

  • What software and version is the server running?
  • Where is the server located? a PC in your house? a PC in a friend's house? a server provider?
  • Have you tried connecting to the server directly with Windows 10 edition?

What software and version is the server running? (Still Need) Where is the server located? a PC in your house? a PC in a friend's house? a server provider? ( Sounds like a PC at a friends house) Have you tried connecting to the server directly with Windows 10 edition? (other players seem to be able to connect some using an identical script.)

imnotjack91 avatar Mar 29 '20 10:03 imnotjack91

@gravyboat500ml in the update you were given, did you change the script or were you provided a new script? i ask because if you were given a new script, you may need to reconfigure your firewall to allow THAT application through as your previous script will have been registered as a "different" application. i would also see if running the script your buddies provided for comparison works as well. this is all sounding more and more like a firewall issue tbh. keep us updated.

imnotjack91 avatar Mar 29 '20 10:03 imnotjack91

We reverted back to the other server and I was able to connect fine using the same process with command but have tried again to use a better server and cannot connect. I don't think it's a firewall issue because the script is running fine on command, and it's detected by the PS4 but will not connect. We'll likely stick to the old server and put up with the lag, but thanks for the help anyway!

Hey @gravyboat500ml, if you're still playing around with it, you might try v0.4.0 of phantom. I've been working on addressing some of these issues and I'm hoping they're fixed now. https://github.com/jhead/phantom/releases
