Draw.io plugin cannot edit diagram in MS Word

Describe the bug Using the draw.io plugin for Desktop version of Microsoft Word on Windows 10, I could successfully insert a drawio diagram from local directory in a word document. Selecting it and clicking on 'Edit Selected' shows a pop-up error "No diagrams found in the selection". I would like to edit the diagram!

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Install draw.io add-in for Microsoft Word. Create a small file using draw.io Desktop version and save it as .drawio file on local disk.
2. Start new document in Microsoft word. Click on Insert -> 'draw.io' button. The draw.io panel should open on the right. Click on 'Pick Device File'. Select the file created in above step and click on 'Insert'. The image should show up in the word editor.
3. Click on the image to select it. Then click on 'Insert' -> 'Edit Selected' in draw.io box in ribbon.
4. See error "No diagrams found in the selection"

Expected behavior I was expecting the draw.io desktop application (or draw.io website) to open for editing the diagram.

Additional context I tried creating a diagram online on draw.io, saved it to my device, and repeated the steps above. Got the same error popup.

I can confirm the above mentioned behavior on Windows 10 as well.

Issue is persistent in Draw.io 17.4.2 with Windows 10 and Office 365. When trying to modify word crashes and restarts. The only workaround is to delete and re add the diagram.

I have the same issue on Mac Monterey with Word for Mac 16.61

I'm using Word registered to my company account and attempting to embed a diagram from my personal OneDrive account. Inserting the diagram works fine, but after inserting the diagram nothing else works.

After inserting a diagram in a Word document, selecting it and clicking the Edit Selected toolbar button, the browser opens and I get an authentication prompt asking me to authenticate, (which is a bit annoying since I already authenticated to add the diagram in the first place). Authentication completes ok but then when the browser window tries to load the Draw.IO project it shows an error dialog stating:

API not found

Also selecting the diagram and choosing either Update Selected or Update All displays the dialog saying Updating Document. Please wait..., but the document is never updated and eventually the operation times out with the error

I am also running into this issue. I'm running Microsoft® Word for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2302 Build 16.0.16130.20378) 64-bit. Would be great if this functionality works instead of having to manually delete and reinsert diagrams

I am also facing the same issue. After inserting a diagram in a Word document, selecting it and clicking the Edit Selected toolbar button, getting error "No diagrams found in the selection"

Inserting the diagram by using Pick Device File then attempting to edit flow diagram, Draw.io is throwing error 'No diagrams found in the selection'.

I am facing the same issue. I am also getting the "No diagrams found in the selection" message after I inserted a draw.io file in word and try to edit it.

Also it is not possible to edit a called draw.io file when it is still in the preview window. The button is greyed out. When I press it it says that no app was found even though I installed the desktop app via the Microsoft app store.

This issue appears when adding files from device. When the file is being added from OneDrive/SharePoint, It does respond to the edit button, but still fails to open the file in the editor.
