XYSplineRenderer spline algorithm documentation

Can documentation be provided as to which spline algorithm is being used? I am noticing some oddities with how the spline is being created, see upper left corner of plot. range_vs_theta_bo

I was interested if the spline type could be picked? One I would have as a recommendation is Centripetal Catmull–Rom spline.
