To be clear, there is a change in behavior. The "Destination Selection" section is skipped, but the user is still given the option of going back in the "Installation Type"...
I'm not familiar with SPICE. I suggest reaching out to that community for support in debugging this.

Do you have a way to reliably trigger these crashes? Could you show me (eg: video) what you're doing to cause them?
This has been an issue for ages. It sometimes gets wedged for some reason, but it hasn't been triaged yet.
