CPU usually at 99% when idle
I'm using 10.5.5 for Mac and find Activity Monitor has Jellyfin at about 99% most of the time, even when there isn't a video playing. I think the process of playing a video puts the CPU up, but it doesn't settle down after the video has stopped and nobody is using the server. I have to quit Jellyfin and restart the server to get the CPU back down. I notice this because my fans start running higher than they should be. Please let me know if you need error logs or something to troubleshoot. I'm not very savvy with programming and such just trying to help. Thanks.
No worries! I may move this to the correct server repository (jelylfin/jellyfin) if needed.
There's two processes when using it on a Mac. Is it jellyfinserver
or jellyfin
that is high CPU for you?
Also, when you stop playing a video, is it stopping on its own, or are you closing the browser, etc?
It's the jellyfin process that is high. We're using MrMC on AppleTV as the client. I'm not sure how we stop playing the video. I'll monitor and see if I notice any trends. Probably we stop the video by hitting the menu button. Even if I quit MrMC entirely the jellyfin process will remain at 99-100% cpu until I quit and relaunch the server.
@bringmecoffeeortea Hrm... okay. That's behaviour I would expect if the playback session isn't stopped correctly, which usually only happens in the browser. I wonder what's happening with the call from MrMC. I'll test soon.
Same thing happening to me, except the CPU spikes to ~1500% MacOS 12.6.3, Intel i9 This happens repeatedly when I open the JellyFin web UI and click around (not changing anything).
