External MPV and SVP and Jellyfin MPV Shim flatpak

Hi - I've managed to get myself confused. Am I reading right that in using the flatpak it can't connect to an external MPV (which would have vapoursynth baked in)? Or can you? I've come accross posts from different places saying that an individual has done it but there is never any mention on how to do it.

So in a nutshell how would I get JMS to play nicely with the external mpv?
