[Feature Request] Show how you are connected
Describe the feature you'd like Effectively have somewhere in the settings menu (for the client) which connection you used to join. You already have to define the server you want to join. It would be cool if you could provide that information. for those who want to know: "Hey am i using the internal or external IP right now, just as i am about to leave my home so everything runs smoothly"
Additional context
As the Jellyfin-Android Mobile App does currently not support switching automatically between internal and external ip, this is easily archievable by pressing "select server" and checking the IP thats pre-filled in the URL field.
HOWEVER, this is linked to https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-android/issues/348 Once automatic switching between connections is implemented, this overview could be very usefull.
@BotBlake yeah, the issue is: I have the selection of: "Speiger Server" and "Speiger Server". Please tell me which are the local and which are the online IP? Anyways, i fixed it for myself fairly simple: Jellyfin Android is now only using the Online IP and i don't even use the local IP anymore, and i only use that to maintain admin stuff and when i want to watch stuff i am using the "Findroid App" instead. While it can't play music/read books, which Jellyfin atm has a terrible experience with anyways, it is significantly better overall.
Featureset:
- I can apply multiple IPs to a single server and just click on the IP to tell which to use without logging out.
- I can download stuff
- And it has the same video player quality in terms of features.
Sorry if I am sounding a bit rough. but Jellyfin android, if you don't want books or Audio (audiobooks are not supported anyways by any jellyfin app) the findroid app is simply the better experience for everyone.
Admin stuff is a lot better here though. I am simply waiting for stuff to improve.
Sorry for the rant. To provide something useful. Maybe provide the user with the option to provide custom Text Labels on servers selection, that way they can identify which server is what connection. That should be trivial to implement :)
