Disable cross fade when playing album tracks in sequencee

Open ghost opened this issue 3 years ago • 6 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I like cross-fading when I am playing a playlist of songs by different artists, from different albums. However I don't like it when I am listening to an album from start to finish. It changes the intentions of the artist, in particular the importance of silence or abrupt beginnings and endings.

Describe the solution you'd like I would like an option in the settings to "disable cross fade when listening to an album"

thank you! great software

Hi there.

You can disable the crossfade by setting the crossfade duration to 0 in the playback settings.

Hi thanks! Maybe I wasn't clear enough.

I like the crossfade in general when listening to a mix of tracks from different artists and albums. What I would like is an option that disables crossfade when I am playing tracks from a single album, in sequence. Does that make sense?

I see, so the player would follow something like this pattern? Crossfade between different albums (or whatever is defined in the crossfade duration setting), but when the next track is in the same album it should use gapless?

GAPLESS - Album 1
CROSSFADE - Album 1
GAPLESS - Album 2
GAPLESS - Album 2
CROSSFADE - Album 2
GAPLESS - Album 3
GAPLESS - Album 3

What should happen if the album is shuffled, or isn't in the correct track sequence?

Yes, exactly. I would say in the case of when an album is shuffled or not in the correct track sequence, crossfade should apply. The option I envision would only be for when you want to listen to album as the artist intended it.

I'm thinking that the feature should be disabled if the player's global shuffle toggle is enabled, what do you think? My reasoning behind that is because it's still possible for two songs in an album to stay in a sequence due to the randomness of the shuffle, so even if your intention is to play songs in a random order this feature may kick in.

yea, that makes sense to me!
