wallpaper being treated as a widget on top of my desktop

The animated wallpaper is basically a widget hiding my desktop. Could we get a toggle option to actually get it to replace our actual wallpaper or at least be put on top of that instead of the whole desktop? I'd like to be able to still interact with my desktop icons and directories.
