Seeking Guidance on Finals Round Setup in DerbyNet While Retaining Full Stats

Hey everyone,

I'm posting this to reddit and here, hopefully thats ok.

I've recently managed a pinewood derby using DerbyNet, which turned out great, but I stumbled upon an issue regarding the finals setup that I hope someone here can help me with.

Our event was structured with six dens leading to a total of 51 heats, ending in a final round composed of eight heats. The finals were intended to feature the top finisher from each den plus the next two fastest cars from all heats, creating an eight-car final.

The challenge came after creating a new 'Finals' den in DerbyNet and moving the qualifying racers into it for the final heats. We noticed that the racers' stats from the previous heats disappeared from their original dens, causing a gap in our records and leading to some confusion.

Does anyone have experience with or a solution for setting up a finals round in DerbyNet in such a way that maintains an aggregate of initial performance while also incorporating the fastest additional cars into the finals without losing any historical stats?

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated as I begin planning for next year's derby.

Thanks a lot!

Make sure your racers aren't marked 'award ineligible' which can happen when using the 'exclude' column during import. In some other import routines, 'exclude' means "don't import the data here" but in DerbyNet it means "exclude the racer from awards" which also excludes them from standings.

You can use the utility at Race Check In>Bulk>Bulk Eligibility to re-enable racers if 'exclude' was selected in error.
