Converting svg with multiple paths into font.

All the test-svg files used in this repository have a single path. How do I convert an svg that has multiple paths into a font without losing information. For example, when I use inkscape to convert the svg file containing multiple paths into a single path, the rendered svg changes. Lines get thinner, spacing between objects change.

Any help would be appreciated!
