Transparency not maintained?

It looks like if you crop an image with transparency you're left with a non-transparent image.

I've attached an example input image. 1415012723_credit_card_finance_money_electronic_banking_bank_debit_commerce_deposit_business_flat_design_icon-512

Library appears to be abandoned. Has anyone forked and fixed this issue?

If supporting image transparency is hard, maybe it would be better to make transparent areas white.

I'm having the same issue...are there any plans to fix it? If not I'll need to know so I can find something else. Many thanks.
