Next in previous folding navigation
Hey guys. Just thought I'd make this one official. The current behavior for the SWS actions move to next folder and previous folder do not respect the collapsed state of the parent folder. For example the current behavior is if you have a collapsed parent folder with nested folders within it and use the alt page up an alt page down keys will move through the nested folders even if the parent is collapsed. Hopefully this is clear. The ideal behavior would be for it to respect the collapse state and just move through the parent folders If this is unclear let me know and I'll upload a video
Hi hi! It's clear, but I've been thinking about it and I'm still trying to work out how this helps.
Even though alt+pageDown/Up doesn't respect collapsed folders, the normal track movement commands (down/upArrow) do. So, I assume this is only currently problematic if you have a lot of non-folder tracks between your folders inside a nested folder? Otherwise, you'd be able to just close the outer folder to skip its contents with the up/downArrow keys.
Can you give me a scenario where the current folder commands are annoying, but moving by track is also annoying even though it does respect folder collapsing?
So maybe if you think about it like headings on a webpage. When I have a high track count which seems to be all the bloody time I group everything as much as I can and use the folder navigation commands to jump to the start of an instrument group. It also jumps over extraneous tracks and busses etc. It would be a really quick way to zoom around big projects. There’s often tracks and sends and all that between the folder tracks Haven’t had coffee yet so struggling to make this make sense. I can make up a sample project might be easier to explain?
