Mac installer hangs when users are on 26.2 beta

Open ScottChesworth opened this issue 4 weeks ago • 3 comments

STR on a Mac running 26.2 beta.

  1. Download latest OSARA snapshot for Mac.
  2. Unzip.
  3. Run the installer. Instead of launching, you'll hear it's not responding indefinitely. A lot of Mac users seem to hang out on betas. Is there anything reasonably easy can be tweaked to make the installer more compatible with that? Tagging @mulcahy1000 in the hope he might have some idea of why it happens.

Hi,

The installer doesn't even so much freeze as just almost immediately closes. VoiceOver manages to say not responding, but by the time it does the installer has already closed.

For what it's worth, the alternative installer provided in #1295 does work fine.

A Google search suggests this is a known Mac OS 26.2 issue running JavaScript via OSAScript. The fact that the native installer works suggests that this is a JavaScript issue. I'd recommend we wait to see if Apple sorts this in an upcoming beta. In the meantime, I'll do my best to keep my repo up-to-date so folks can get a working installer from there:

The installer is working for me again on the 26.2RC, so it should most likely be fine in the final release. Tested with version 2025.11.18.2080,f8aae105
