Create Homebrew package
I was looking into this; wouldn't mind taking a stab at it myself soon!
Couple questions about it that would help in adhering to Homebrew's Cask guidelines:
- @jcsalterego, would you be okay with me/someone else submitting this as a Homebrew Cask? a. I don't mind trying to maintain the cask (once I learn how to) myself, collaborating with you/others, or transferring ownership of it to you/another later.
- Would you consider this "beta" or "unstable" software instead of something relatively stable? This would help file the Cask under the proper tap type.
- This project does not fail any of the Homebrew criteria for rejecting casks, does it?
a. E.g., requiring SIP to be disabled, failing macOS GateKeeper verification, is installed via a
pkginstaller that requiresallow_untrusted: trueb. I can help test these aspects further through diving into the code, compiling/testing it myself, etc. soon but if someone already knows the answers to these, we can speed up the process. - Also for the maintainer (don't want to double-tag in the same comment): is continued development planned for this project as and when you're able, or are there plans to take on collaborators, maintainers, or transfer ownership of the project? I notice there are only 2 branches, both of which are stale, and
mainhasn't been updated in 3 months so far.
@paanvaannd
- sure!
- stable? i use it daily
- it's distributed as a normal apple-signed app. just not through the app store. seems ok to me
- it's probably going to be a solo project as long as i can maintain it
I haven't gone through the Homebrew submission process myself, but I would also love to have this available as a cask. I prefer managing all of my applications through Homebrew, and I think this would also help with distribution and discovery.
Ah, shoot: sorry folks! Life got busy, this fell by the wayside. Still busy, but less so now. I'll add it to my to-do to investigate soon (likely have some time this weekend).
