Did you get an email notification about the SSL cert renewal failing?
If you are accessing Webmin via Apache, restarting Apache could cause errors - also, it's possible that a restart may stop the service, but not be able to start it...
Are these multiple `protocols` , one in each of those files?
You can install new modules at Webmin -> Webmin Configuration -> Webmin Modules.

Webmin normally assumes that if a chroot directory is configured, then it already exists. What does /etc/webmin/bind8/config contain on this system?
