Apple Remote Support not working

I'm running v0.98 on Yosemite. Apple Remote Support is not working for any of the media controls - however, it still seems to be taking the remote signals because the native Mac volume control does not work when the Apple Remote Support option is turned on in the NicePlayer preferences.

Is see that https://github.com/jbtule/NicePlayer/tree/master/Classes/AppleRemote hasn't been updated in 8 years. So I'm guessing this could be fixed by implementing the most recent HIDRemote class?
