return virtual populate with hydrated results

I have a schema with virtual populate field http://mongoosejs.com/docs/populate.html

In the docs I can't find information about how to include these virtuals in hydrated results. There is information about populating paths, but not about virtual populates. Could you please add this to the docs or add information if it is not possible to return populated virtuals with hydrated results?
