installation is impossible on Debian 12

I need a version that does not require Python 2.X but can automatically work with Python 3.X, as Debian 12 makes it impossible to install Python 2.7.18, the latest. Is this possible? If not, is can you recommend a similar tool but a more updated one?

Sorry for the inconvenience. You can try msrsync3 at the root of the project folder.

It works, congratulations. This app should be in the Debian repository. It's just too important.

Thank you for the kind words !

This program would also need more love from my side. The initial scope was limited to python 2.6 for RHEL 6.x type distribution without dependencies besides rsync itself but it found its audience beyond that.

I don’t have much time to work on it because life. I also don’t have an immediate use for it today as I moved to different tools to move petabytes of data around filers using multiple machines (https://github.com/hpc/mpifileutils) in my daily work and it certainly not as easy to install and use ;)

I understand the frustration regarding msrsync not receiving updates but who knows what could happen in the future.

I think that rclone with its metadata options could fulfill the need msrsync is trying to address. It don’t have much experience with it in this context, but it worth a try.

Have fun.
