Transfer out: django-simple-history

Open ddabble opened this issue 11 months ago • 1 comments

Project Proposal

We're looking to move django-simple-history to the Django Commons organization.

Project Details

django-simple-history

Project Description

See https://github.com/jazzband/django-simple-history/issues/1391 for context.

To my understanding, repository transferal should be coordinated with @tim-schilling and @cunla.

Hi @jezdez! The team is onboard with the change and is ready to move the repo over. The two things we'd need to happen are:

  • Transfer the GitHub repo to tim-schilling so I can move it into django-commons (alternatively, there's the option of you joining the django-commons org so that you can transfer directly into it)
  • Add me (CodenameTim) as an owner on the PyPI project

@jezdez Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help with this process. I will be disconnected from the internet from April 13th to April 20th. Otherwise I'll be available.

@tim-schilling Can you please delete your fork of the repo?

@ddabble In case you're wondering I've initiated the transfer:

  • [x] transfer the repo to me first (I know, GitHub makes this hard)
  • [x] have @tim-schilling delete his fork for the next step
  • [x] then initiative the transfer to Tim's account (since I'm not a member of the django-waffle org)
  • [x] you'll have to accept the transfer request via the email you'll get from GitHub,
  • [x] then you can then use the transfer functionality at the bottom of https://github.com/jazzband/django-simple-history/settings (just select the django-commons org there)
  • [ ] ~Figure out what we should do about ReadTheDocs. Which account to add there?~
  • [x] The PyPI project only lists jazzband as a maintainer, not owner. It also seems to be a django-commons org project already

Just to track the progress on this, here is the current status of Jazzband: https://github.com/jazzband/help/issues/196#issuecomment-2961492508

Oh nice, thank you! 😊

  • [ ] Figure out what we should do about ReadTheDocs. Which account to add there?

@tim-schilling Do you have an account there?

ddabble avatar Jun 11 '25 07:06 ddabble

@jezdez sorry about that. I had to move some other things around. I've deleted the fork now.

@ddabble I do have a ReadTheDocs account. My username there is CodenameTim, it's connected to my github account.

@tim-schilling Hey no problem! Transfer request sent.

jezdez avatar Jun 11 '25 17:06 jezdez

Accepted, thank you!

tim-schilling avatar Jun 11 '25 17:06 tim-schilling

Moved into django-commons, thank you @jezdez!

tim-schilling avatar Jun 11 '25 17:06 tim-schilling

@tim-schilling Okay if we keep the ReadTheDocs topic to you to figure out?

jezdez avatar Jun 11 '25 17:06 jezdez

Yeah, that should be fine.

tim-schilling avatar Jun 11 '25 18:06 tim-schilling

Thanks @tim-schilling! Closing as done.
