This sounds like a more intermittent bug with rabbit's management API. Debugging auth on rabbit's side... well, that's a challenge and not sure got a good solution for you sadly....
Eventually would like to get a regex option :) There's already minimal filtering available, it's just not where I'd like it to be... will review this when I can.
