Abandoned? Release? Or any good alternatives?

Open pzrq opened this issue 2 years ago • 0 comments

Hello @jasonkuhrt and react-popover users,

It looks like the last successful merge was https://github.com/jasonkuhrt/react-popover/pull/183 over 3 years ago, however this package in the last 7 days had over 32k npm downloads, so there are clearly plenty of people still using this good work.

However, 3 years is a long time in software, so:

  • Is react-popover likely to get support, or a new release?
    • If so, any kind of timeline (or even as a primary school teacher of mine loved quoting a certain footwear company - "just do it") would be greatly appreciated
    • If not, a clear "yes react-popover is abandoned" or ideally archiving this repository would also be helpful
  • Are there any actively maintained forks that would like to put their hand up?
    • Naturally the number of dependabot PRs alone is starting to get quite worrying...
  • Or failing the above, has anyone in this community found good alternatives?

If so I'd welcome your replies, thanks in advance!

P.S. Maintainer burnout is a thing, and I for one appreciate your and this community's collective efforts to this point, so understand if you can't make time to reply. If you've come this far, thank you for taking a moment of your day to read this 👍🏼
