Plex Guide Data

Open ellisd4 opened this issue 2 years ago • 7 comments

Not sure if this is a Plex thing, a ErSatzTV thing, or a just my setup situation... but my guide data coming into Plex for the custom channels seems mashed together. For instance, channel 2.1 here shows correctly (what actually plays in Plex) when I tune to the channel, but the Guide Data in Plex is inaccruate. Some clients show the data mashed together.

There have been a number of reports of Plex having inaccurate guide data (while non-Plex IPTV clients continue to show the correct data). The only solution we've come up with is to change the channel number to one that has never been used before. For example, changing 2.1 to 2.10 might temporarily resolve the issue.

Will keep this open for now since it's an ongoing issue.

That worked for me. Thank you!

The latest develop release includes #1198 which adds more display-name entries to the XMLTV and Plex now displays the channel number for me (instead of channel number dot etv). Curious if this helps XMLTV data stay accurate over time in Plex.

For anyone else still having this issue like I was and need a workaround instead of changing the channel number. I found that if you feed ErsatzTV into ThreadFin then it doesn't mix up the channels anymore. Seems Plex likes the way it feeds the XMLTV better for some reason so I don't know if any of that could be setup in Ersatz.

Do you have any guidance as to how to set up Threadfin to pass the data to Plex. I set up the portion that reads in the XMLTV from ErsatzTV, and it looks right as it says the proper number of channels and such. What I can't understand is why I get no output from Threadfin. When I look at the log it says that it is parsing the ErsatzTV XMLTV file, but it says there are 0 channels. Obviously I'm missing a piece in the Threadfiin setup.
