GMail > Gmail copy, weird timestamping

When making a copy GMail > Gmail, threads are dated to the moment of a copy; however date of individual messages is copied correctly.

I would suppose that Google did some magic because they don't use a "normal" imap server. Normal the date is saved in the mail header and not by the imap server.
