Transparent subtitles background

Could you please add an option for transparent subtitles background? I find the black background slightly annoying, blocking more parts of the image than needed.

Yes I agree that subtitles need some work.

For now you can set the subtitle background in the Android setting of your phone. Settings -> Accessibility -> Subtitles -> Background color or something like that :)
