Different language when sending long texts to iPhone

Open ThisIsAlanB opened this issue 8 years ago • 4 comments

I sent some friends somewhat long texts last night. Both of them are iPhone users.

This is what they got: attach5177_20161024_204129

This is what I have in Textra: screenshot_20161024-204353

I haven't had this issue so far with Pushbullet Desktop for Windows (different computer).

Wow, very strange. Not sure what to do with this.

Few questions:

  • Do you use encryption?
  • Does it only happen with this specific string, or after a fixed number of characters?
  • Does it show normally on every android messaging app?
  • Encoding key?

  1. On my phone, no. On my Mac, yeah I use FileVault. But shorter texts aren't affected, so I don't know how that would be at fault.
  2. It's probably after a set amount of characters. I've sent another longer text to a friend (also iPhone user) last night, and it did the same thing.
  3. Yes it shows normally both in Samsung's default messaging app, as well as Pushbullet's Windows app.
  4. He tried googling the string and it came up as an encoding key for some reason. The other longer text apparently came up as a Digimon related thing.

Regarding the 1st question, I meant in Noti (it has an end-to-end encryption option), haha. But alright, I'm guessing you didn't enable it then. I'll see if I can reproduce this myself!

I got a message from an iOS user awhile ago that looked like this. The actual message was just very long, but in English. I'm inclined to think it's not a Noti issue.
