background.png flickers during boot

During boot, when displaying the background.png, a few times a blank screen flickers on.

Is that somehow avoidable?

It's certainly possible, but I'm not sure how off the top of my head.

At least one flicker is caused by switching the display from the Plymouth boot graphics to the window manager background. They both have been configured with the same background color & background image, so they look the same, but they're actually two completely different things.

Something someone more versed in this stuff might be able to achieve is to keep the Plymouth boot graphics somehow visible for a longer time, while starting X in a different VTY, and switching over only when the browser is ready.

Would love a PR if someone has ideas on how to make this happen!
