Localstorage (which contains the settings) is per-port. So you'd lose your settings if it'd automatically pick a different port. Just quit whatever is running on port 3000 when developing locally?...

Yeah I haven't been working on this. That said, I'd be happy to take any good PRs if you do want to work on this. I'm also just very curious...
