I suppose it didn't work because the decorator bailed before the challenges code could execute? I'll apply the linting fixes im a bit.

The linting should pass now. I checked, the challenges endpoint code indeed doesn't work before the event start because the decorator throws a HTTP exception due to the abort() call.

Here's the screenshot, plus we uploaded a zone file and specified the existing e-mail redirects in the text field. The Project ITX URL field was left empty.
