idea: Stop truncating model names in the UI when the window has plenty of room.
Problem Statement
It's frustrating being unable to tell which quantisation of a given model I'm downloading and/or using in the selector and downloader UI for models Jan uses, as sometimes I'll want a more accurate version of a model for working with data or code for example, and other times I may want a lighter/faster version for creative writing for example.
I understand doing this if I'm using a smaller window without the room for a model name, but I'd rather have the entire name of it where possible like I see in LMstudio
The name is often also incorrect, and named after the base model of a model I've downloaded, rather than the model card's name, which makes it very hard to differentiate. This seems like an oversight.
Feature Idea
Don't truncate model names when we have all of this screen real estate available!
Yes please, this would be very useful.
This also makes searching for already downloaded models difficult. When I download two quants of this: https://huggingface.co/bartowski/TheDrummer_Cydonia-24B-v2.1-GGUF I end up with two models named "Mistral-Small-24B-Instruct-2501", very hard to tell a part form just the name, then I search for "Cydonia" or "TheDrummer" and find nothing cause the search only uses the name.
Or this one: https://huggingface.co/mradermacher/Hamanasu-Magnum-QwQ-32B-i1-GGUF ends up just named "Model".
The model name will occupy most of the space in the next version (UX revamp), except for the action buttons in the tail.
