SNAP package cannot create Pulse Audio sinks

Open insensitiveclod opened this issue 4 years ago • 2 comments

Hello

I first tried NOSON on my ubuntu 20.04 install by using 'snap install noson' The app works fine, apart from using the PulseAudio sink option.

In console output it reports that it cannot create a pulseaudio sink.

When installing Noson via the noson-ppa , it works fine. I would expect this to have to do with how the snap environment functions and abstracts stuff away.

If this is the wrong place for a bug-report about a/the snap-package, let me know. If you need precise text of output, let me know; it scrolled out of my terminal and I'd have to re-install the SNAP-version of the program, but it wasnt much more than two lines along the line of:

(NOSON)CreateNewSink: cannot create new sink (NOSON)No Sink found

Thanks for reporting. Seems the snap daemon requires some new settings to run properly now with pulse. I will check that soon.

They broke many things in the new snap daemon (ubuntu20). The pulseaudio service no longer work as expected and I haven't any idea how to make it work properly now. Really you should prefer the ppa package instead. The flathub package works too.
