Ensure correct quoting in translations
As above, English and translations should use "‘" `‘` and "’" `’`. (This means you get language and font-specific rendering of the opening and closing quote marks. "“" `“` and "”" `”` might be preferable.)

Note that this is best scripted if someone can do it reliably. Doing it manually is going to be error-prone.

I'm sorry, I don't know what you're referring to. Could you provide an example?
We use quotations to specify text found in the UI. I think this text is doing this:
"%1" und gebe in der Registerkarte "Optionen"
I'd rather verbatim strings that appear in UI be presented in bold, but I guess the escaped code for that is even worse.
I'm not sure bold would mean "this is literally what you're going to see". I take it more as a form of emphasis.
