New maintainer/fork?

Open robinpaulson opened this issue 6 years ago • 8 comments

Hi all, given that jamie has stated he will not be maintaining this useful app (great work by the way, I use it all the time), perhaps we might continue development elsewhere and get the new version included in F-Droid?

@red-coracle appears to have the most well-developed fork. What do you say? Would you mind enabling issues on your fork so we could discuss development there?

Or perhaps jamie is willing to allow another dev to become an editor of the existing repo; this will make new versions much easier to be included in F-Droid?

Cheers

I enabled issues on my fork. I'm always open to contributing back upstream for a new F-Droid release as well (or releasing under a new name).

More than happy to help in whatever way I can.

@red-coracle I could make you a maintainer of this repo, or move it to a github org. Or even just tell the f-droid folks that you're in charge now?

If f-droid will allow a smooth transition, I think the latter option is preferable. I shouldn't have maintainer rights any more, and if I ever feel the itch to contribute again I'll open a pull request!

Excellent news!

Last time I looked, getting changes to/a new project added to F-Droid is notoriously slow, unless you're willing to submit patches yourself to the app list repo. For a quick rather than best option, making red-coracle a maintainer might be the way to go. There is info on their gitlab page about submitting changes.

For interested parties: a number of individuals are working on a fork of Episodes, hosted by red-coracle. The fork is here: https://github.com/red-coracle/episodes please join in if you wish to make suggestions or help code, etc.

@jamienicol Would you mind adding a note to the header of your repository that there is an active fork, with a shortcut to it?

Any news on a new version for F-Droid? There is still only v0.12 available. What happened to the transition? :disappointed:

@LeSpocky Have a look at my previous post. The one directly above the post you made. There's a link there to the fork a few of us are slowly working on.

Yeah I saw that and I had a look. There are even releases newer than v0.12, but none of those are availbale from F-Droid, or are they?
