Asset tag for Prestage and ADE

Hi, It is not really an issue but Asset Tags seems different for enrolled devices and Prestage/ADE devices. All my devices have an Asset Tag but in Prestage and ADE panel, Asset Tag is empty.

How to add Asset Tag to device in a Prestage profile or from ABM?

Hello,

You cannot have an asset tag until there is a record in Jamf Pro. All the Prestage knows about is what comes from ABM/ASM.

That being said, please read the Admin documentation for “Inventory Preload” - it might be just what you need.

Thanks Chris. As far as I know, there is no way to add asset tags with ABM. Inventory preload does add asset tag for enrolled devices. I don’t really understand this asset tag column if it could not be filled.

Correct. For devices, ABM is about ownership, not inventory control.

The Inventory Preload can have that asset tag ready to apply.. upon enrollment!
