rooting phylogenetic tree at the outgroup branch

Open cirodri1 opened this issue 6 years ago • 1 comments

I was able to drag and drop my output files from RAxML and roary; however I have not been able to find a way to root my phylogenetic tree at the outgroup branch in Phandango.

Is there a way to root the phylogenetic tree at a specific branch in Phandango?

I usually visualize my phylogenetic trees in iTOL and in there I am able to click on a branch and root my tree accordingly, is there such a function in Phandango?

If not, is there a way I can delete branches in Phandango to get rid of the outgroup branch?

Hi @cirodri1!

Not currently. One solution would be to use a unix-y tool for this.

If not, is there a way I can delete branches in Phandango to get rid of the outgroup branch?

Not really, but you can right click on a branch and redraw the subtree, which could be used to hide the outgroup.
