Firefox buffering today... all add-ons affected
Heads up, it looks like however FF add-ons do this is broken as of today. Thanks for staying on this stupid broken website's case!
FYI this seems to be a real problem people are having (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1238380)
This link suggests setting media.autoplay.default (about:config) to 1. Don't know if this is how YT add-ons do it. It worked to stop auto-play, but the video still buffers. I frankly don't understand how both browser and website developers can't understand how pointless/wasteful/obnoxious buffering/playing video is, or why options to prevent it are hidden from their end-users.
EDITED: Okay, buffering is controlled by setting media.cache_readahead_limit to 0. It seems to work. If FF would just expose these things, YouTube targeting add-ons might not be necessary for most users :)
Okay, those fixes stopped working also, 1 month later. I'm feeling like Mozilla is trying to force buffering... but can't think of a reason why it would. Can't think of a reason it makes it impossible to disable.
