.dat exporting?

How would I export a .dat file to another format, like .dae or .brres?

The only other way to get the data from these as far as I know is to use a model ripping tool to extract it directly from the game in Dolphin which isn't ideal...

If your talking about melee models, you can use this tool to open the DAT files and export as DAE or FBX https://github.com/Ploaj/HSDLib

Well, specifically models from Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 but that's almost the same format Do you mean writing an exporter myself?
