This is a lot of work, thanks! So if I understand correctly, this animates the pane in IE8/IE9?

The pane actually wouldn't open at all (for me) on <= IE9; including on older Windows Phone devices.

I just tried this out, and it works well on my HTC Titan running WP7.5, and desktop IE10 running in IE8 mode.
